Jake Epp Library Expansion

Steinbach’s Jake Epp Library will undergo a significant expansion in 2011-2012. The project received a provincial grant of $600,000. Other City funds will cover $400,000 and the remaining $900,000 will come from debt creation.

The project went to tender at the end of July with two tenders submitted.  The contract was awarded to Boretta Construction of Winnipeg on August 16, 2011 at a total of $1,682,091.  Northern Sky Architecture Inc. did the design work for the project.

The existing library was constructed in 1996 at a size of 800 square meters. The new expansion will be 590 square meters, for a total size of 1390 square meters. Demolition began the week of September 12th, and construction is set to begin the week of September 26th. Completion is anticipated for spring 2012.
